Advances in Biomedicine depend on translational research in health and will be determined by the possibility of offering multidisciplinary research lines in which basic and clinical researchers collaborate and which must include and promote technological advances. The main objective of the PhD Program is use the training of our PhD students to promote quality research in biomedicine and public health leading improvement of the quality and life expectancy and increasing the general and economic welfare of society.

The PhD Program is formed by research teams with a long tradition of collaborative work with national and international groups.

It is structured in 10 research lines including 120 researchers who have been authors-coauthors of more than 2517 articles published during the last 7 years in journals included in the JCR-index. In the last 7 years the accumulated impact factor of these papers is more than 4683.8 points, including more than 458 publications in the first quartile.

In the same period, 369 doctoral theses were addressed (16 of them with a European Doctorate Mention and 11 of them with an International PhD Mention at least).

The strategic alliance of this Doctoral Program with the public health institutions is considered a fundamental aspect as it shows, among other actions, by the development of the agreement with the Biomedical Research Institute of Malaga (IBIMA).

In addition, the Researchers-Professors-Tutors of the PhD Program are members of 40 Consolidated Groups of the Andalusian Plan for Research, Development and Innovation of the Junta de Andalucía (PAIDI),  and members of 25 groups of the Biomedical Research Institute of Malaga (IBIMA), and are main investigators and / or collaborated investigators of at least 272 projects financed by national and international competitive calls.
