Many therapeutically
active molecules are non soluble in aqueous systems, or chemically
and biologically fragile, and they need to be encapsulated in a
drug carrying system. These systems prevent the loaded drug from
degradation so it can be effectively delivered in biological media,
also providing a selective release of the drug.
Lipid carriers (SLNs
and NLCs) represent the most promising class of particulate matrices
for bioactive organic molecules. Their advantages over other carrier
systems include high temporal and thermal stability, good-to-high
loading capacity, ease of preparation, low production costs and
large scale industrial production. They can also be prepared from
natural sources by using biocompatible components.
ICON Nanotech
S.L. offers the preparation of lipid nanocarriers of active
compounds such as sunscreens, antioxidans, functional food or actives
in cosmetics.
