Requests, proposals, and placements in University Teaching Bodies

 

During the process of proposal and appointment of University Senior Lecturer and Professor posts, the criteria followed will be the one established by the Governing Council of the University of Málaga, as well as the criteria included in the Collective Agreement of Contract Teaching and Research Staff belonging to Andalusian Public Universities.

 

According to Article 2 of the Regulation on the competition procedure for entry in University Teaching Bodies of the University of Málaga:

1. The Department Council is responsible for requesting the posts necessary in university teaching and research bodies. Requests should be informed by its corresponding Centre Board, while justifying the departmental needs through a report. In case a Department comprises several knowledge areas, it is the specific area within the Department that will be directly attended.

Having received a teaching accreditation for Higher Education, teachers should address the head of their corresponding Department to initiate the necessary procedures in relation to the request for the post issued by such Department. Likewise, the Head of Department should include it in the agenda of one of the departmental sessions within 30 days max. on receiving the petition.

During the process of proposal and appointment of University Senior Lecturer and Professor posts, the criteria followed will be the one established by the Governing Council of the University of Málaga, as well as the criteria included in the Collective Agreement of Contract Teaching and Research Staff belonging to Andalusian Public Universities.

2. Following a proposal by the Office of the Vice-President, the Governing Council will determine the source for staffing, so as to apply due modifications to the List of Posts for the Teaching and Research Staff.

3. In pursuance of what has been established in section 1 of the present article, the Department Council will submit the following documents to the Board of Centres:

a. Request for post, complying with the format established by the Office of the Vice-President for Faculty Affairs, including the name of the area of knowlege to which the post corresponds based on the Area of Knowledge Catalogue provided in the Royal Decree 774/2002, July 26, the generic profile required for such area of knowledge, justification for request, the date on which the Department Council approved the request and the proposal for Selection Committee members, in compliance with what is established in Article 6 of the present Regulation, as expressly stated by the President and his/her Deputy.

Likewise, individual votes manifested during the Department Council's session will be included, where applicable.

b. A certified copyof the teaching licence issued and notified by National Agency for Assessment and Accreditation , in case the given offer requires so.

c. The curricula of members proposed for the Selection Committee, in electronic format, according to the Appendix of the Royal Decree 1312/2007, October 5.

4. The Board of Centres, which will call for a session within 30 days of receiving the documentation issued by the Department Council, will inform on the request and propose the Selection Committee that will be responsible for such task. Likewise, the Board shall submit to the Vice Rectorate for Teaching, if appropriate, and the Governing Council the request for the post in addition to a reasoned report on such request, individual votes, if applicable, a certified copy of the teaching licence issued,  the curricula of members proposed for the Selection Committee in electronic format.

5. Exceptionally, the Board of Centres may issue the request for university teaching and research posts. Such requests should be justified in a report on the staff needs regarding teaching, research, and promotion and should be informed by its corresponding Department Councils, as well as issuing an official proposal according to what is established in Chapter III of the present Regulation.

6. In order to ensure teaching, research, and promotion rights and duties, once the Department Council and Board of Centres have been informed, they may submit to the Governing Council their proposal of teaching and research post placements. Such proposal will be informed by the corresponding Board of Centres and the Department Council, including a proposal from the Selection Committe as stated in Chapter II of this Regulation.

 

Men and Women's equal representation in the workplace

Proposals related to the organisation of the Committee should comply with the principles of impartiality and professionalism, so as to achieve a balanced staff of men and women, as stated in the Organic Act 3/2007, of March 22, for effective equality between men and women, unless it is not possible for wellfounded and duly substantiated reasons.

For the purpose of this Act, an equal representation of men and women is achieved when either sex accounts for no more than 60% and no less than 40%, overall.
