  Información Adicional:
  · We are very glad to inform you that we will organize intensive language courses in order to help incoming students to reach the B1 level required to spend an Erasmus period at Sapienza University.

As you know, since a.y. 2013/2014 and as stated in our Erasmus+ agreements, Sapienza is accepting only students with an intermediate level of Italian language (i.e. Threshold level B1 or Higher of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) in order to make the most of their stay and make daily life in Rome a smoother and more enjoyable experience.
Even if we require students to have an intermediate level of Italian, we are quite flexible with our language requirements:
- we do not necessarily need an official certificate, but students can also send us an alternative qualification (i.e. certificate issued by the Home University, language centres/schools, online courses, etc.) or the results of the online assessment test offered by the Online Linguistic Support (OLS) to demonstrate the level;
- the deadline for submitting the certificate is generally just before the beginning of the courses (by the end of August for students coming in the 1st semester and by the end of January for students coming in the 2nd semester) and not during the application process;
- in some specific cases (see below), we accept an intermediate level of English instead of Italian proficiency;
- we organized free intensive courses to support students in the learning process.

In addiction, for the a.y. 2016/2017, we decided to organize intensive courses in summer. These courses are aimed at supporting students in reaching the intermediate level, if they are really motivated but not able to send the certificate within the deadlines. Therefore, we strongly recommend you to reassure your students and to select also students that do not have a B1 level now but undertake to make any effort to reach the intermediate level before the beginning of their stay.

We remind you that an intermediate level of English (B1) is accepted instead of an intermediate level of Italian, in the following cases:

? if students wish to attend English taught degree programmes or modules (http://en.uniroma1.it/study-us/degrees-english and http://en.uniroma1.it/study-us/visiting-and-exchange-students/english-taught-modules)
? if students are coming for your final research project or for training work and your tutor accepts English as working language.

  · Exchange students will normally be allowed to enter courses at I ROMA 01 unless these courses are subject to restricted enrolments.
ROMA 01 requires students to have an intermediate knowledge of Italian language ( i.e. Thershold level B1 or Higher of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). An intermediate level of English is accepted instead of Italian proficiency in the following cases:
- Students who wish to attend classes from degree programs fully or partially taught in English (http://en.uniroma1.it/study-us/graduate/english-taught-courses)
- Students coming for their final thesis project or for training work, whose tutor accepts English as working language.
Students must provide an official certificate of language or an official letter issued by an Italian language teacher at Home Institution, proving an intermediate level (B1 or higher of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
