On September 9th, the facilities of the sports complex at the University of Malaga (UMA) witnessed an enriching event: a language exchange organized by the Vice-Rectorate for Mobility and International Cooperation, through the UMA International HUB office. Local and international students gathered to share a snack while practicing different languages.

These gatherings provide a valuable opportunity for students to explore new friendships, languages, and cultures. Local students have the chance to immerse themselves in an international environment within their own university, while international students can integrate into Malaga's culture and university life.

Around 90 students participated in the exchange, where more than five languages were practiced. Students from Belgium, Brazil, Italy, Korea, France, England, among other countries, had the opportunity to improve their Spanish and interact with local students.

Most participants had the support of their "buddies," fellow participants in the Buddy Program exchange program. This program, hosting over a thousand students this semester, encourages the involvement of local students in the integration process for international students. From showing them around the faculty and the library to helping them select courses and explore the city, buddies play a crucial role in the adaptation of international students.

This event is just one of the various activities organized by the UMA International HUB every semester. Its goal is to provide international students with spaces to fully integrate and enjoy an enriching experience during their university stay. Through these initiatives, the strengthening of bonds between local and international students is promoted, along with an appreciation for the rich culture of Malaga.
