The University of Malaga today inaugurated the 14th Erasmus+ International Staff Training Week, which will be held from 3 to 7 February. This meeting, organised by the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalisation, brings together academic and administrative staff from 24 countries participating through the Erasmus KA-131, KA-171 and the TransFrontEU Consortium - Erasmus+ KA171 programmes. Among the countries represented were Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Dominican Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Moldova, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

The opening ceremony, held at the Rectorate, was attended by the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, Zaida Díaz-Cabiale, who welcomed the participants. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of this event for the strengthening of international academic networks and underlined the key role of the Erasmus+ Training Week as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and cooperation between universities around the world. He also reaffirmed the UMA's commitment to internationalisation, reflected in initiatives such as this one, designed to boost global collaboration.

After the official opening, the participants were welcomed by the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, in the Hall of Mirrors of the City Hall, where he highlighted the positive impact of this type of meeting in the city. The Mayor highlighted the role of the UMA in the internationalisation of Malaga and in the generation of opportunities for cultural and academic exchange.

Throughout the day, attendees will take part in a guided tour of the historic centre of Malaga, where they will learn about its cultural and artistic heritage, immersing themselves in the historical wealth of the city.

Over the next few days, participants will attend lectures, presentations and practical workshops, with a comprehensive approach that covers everything from the Spanish language and culture to the services and programmes offered by the University of Malaga. Among the topics to be addressed are the opportunities promoted by the Vice-Rectorates for Internationalisation, Culture, Students, Employability and Entrepreneurship, Infrastructure and Sustainability, as well as Equality and Social Policy.

In addition, various UMA units, such as the UMA International HUB, the General Library, the Sports Service, the Faculty of Tourism, the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters and the International Center of Spanish (CIE), will share information about their initiatives, offering a complete overview of the resources available to the university community.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 4, the Consular Corps Accredited in Malaga, chaired by its dean Alberto de Benito, will offer attendees a guided tour of the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Malaga, where they will be able to enjoy one of the most outstanding art collections in the city.
With more than a decade of experience, the Erasmus+ International Training Week has established itself as a benchmark in global university cooperation, offering a space for the exchange of good practices and the construction of collaboration networks between higher education institutions around the world.

Through this initiative, the University of Malaga reaffirms its leadership in internationalization, consolidating itself as a key player in the promotion of academic cooperation and international mobility.
