RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AT SYSTEMS ENGINEERING LABORATORY UNIVERSITY OF OULU (FINLAND). 

In this session, Prof. Enso Ikonen will present activities at the University of Oulu (Finland) and the Systems Engineering Laboratory research unit, give an introduction to past work in process identification and control, and end with a presentation of the research plan and interests for the academic year 2015-16 at Malaga.

FINITE MARKOV CHAINS IN THE CONTROL OF INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES. 

The 2h talk will introduce finite Markov chains in the control of industrial processes. The steps of discretization & identification, optimal controller synthesis, state estimation, and analysis of system dynamics are considered, looking at the main components from three angles: underlying basic concepts & ideas, engineering utility & tools, and academic research state-of-the-art & future.
