Wet/dry fronts

A suitable treatment of wet/dry fronts in models where flooding and/or emerging of dry areas can occur is a key point. These situations appear in models for river innundation, dam-breaks, tsunami simulations where run-up areas have to be precisely determined, or in the interface evolution on two-layer fluid simulations in natural straits.

Here we show several examples on academic problems of the numerical treatment of dry/wet treatment.

• Time evolution of a fluid inside a parabolic vase. Periodic solution.

• Time evolution of a fluid over a bottom with obstacles. Test proposed by M. Kawahara and T. Umetsu.

• Lock-exchange problem in the Strait of Gibraltar.
