GANANA
The ambition of GANANA is to pioneer one of the first concerted efforts in the area of scientific high-performance computing (HPC) between the European Union and India. We envision that the project will serve as a catalyst for innovation and collaboration, bringing together leading researchers, software developers, and stakeholders from both regions with the EU Centres of Excellence program and the Indian Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) as the core drivers. The massive computational power of the largest supercomputers in the EU and India will be leveraged by designing schemes for shared access to the machines. By pooling resources and expertise, we will seek to establish a dynamic ecosystem of collaboration. |

What does EDANYA group do in GANANA?
EDANYA group contributes to this project with the European flagship code Tsunami-HySEA, and with several services associated to the code (SaaS). In particular, we participate in Project 3 within WP4 (Geophysical Hazards).
Project 3: Tsunami forecasting [PM3-PM36]. Lead: UMA; Participants: BSC; India partner: CDAC; External collaboration INCOIS.
This project 3 aims to implement an urgent computing platform for assessing tsunami impact in the coast of India in very short times after the definition of the initial seismic source is received. This initial condition can be provided by T4.2 or another source. A tool will also be put in place to produce inundation maps for tsunami events with potential impact in India or historical events for benchmarking purposes. The following subtasks will be considered:
T4.6 Computing Requirements and Implementation of Tsunami-HySEA workflow for Urgent Computing Tsunami Simulations with impact in India.
(i) Defining the computational setup and workflow automation for the Indian region
(ii) Optimisation of the setup and analysis of the computing resources required for Urgent Computing simulations.
(iii) Testing and validation of the workflow in real conditions
(iv) Enable virtual access to execute Tsunami-HySEA as HPCWaaS for tsunamis with impact in India
T4.7 Inundation maps and hazard assessment. For this task topographic data of the potentially coastal inundated area are required and coastal bathymetries are also a necessary input data.
(i) Defining the target areas for high-resolution inundation maps. Construction of the nested grids setup.
(ii) Benchmarking code results for historical events
(iii) Produce a catalogue of synthetic potential scenarios to be simulated and generate high-resolution inundation maps for the selected target areas.
GANANA is funded by the European Commission under project number 101196247 within the HORIZON-EUROHPC-JU-2023-INCO-06 call.
