Visit of Adriana E. Edwards Wurzinger, Representative of Saitama University, to the International Relations & Projects Office at UMA

The representative of Saitama University explores opportunities for academic exchange and international collaboration during her visit to UMA.
On Monday, March 24, 2025, the Vice-Rectorate for Mobility and International Projects at the University of Málaga (UMA) had the honor of hosting Adriana E. Edwards Wurzinger, a representative of the prestigious Saitama University in Japan.
The purpose of her visit was twofold. On the one hand, Edwards Wurzinger aimed to gather detailed information about the expectations and needs of exchange students interested in studying at Saitama University. This focus seeks to enhance the academic offerings and services provided by her institution to attract international students and provide them with a more enriching experience. On the other hand, she expressed great interest in the international programs offered by UMA to its undergraduate and postgraduate students, given the growing interest from the Japanese academic community in these opportunities.
During her stay, discussions also revolved around the possibilities of faculty exchange, collaboration on research projects, and strengthening institutional relations between the two universities—key aspects for fostering closer cooperation in the future.
Edwards Wurzinger also took the opportunity to tour UMA’s facilities, including the UMA International HUB offices, where she was introduced to the work carried out by this service in supporting and managing international students. This experience allowed the Japanese representative to gain firsthand insight into the infrastructure and resources available at UMA to support its international community.
The visit reinforces the commitment of both institutions to expanding their academic ties and opening new opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers, further consolidating the University of Málaga's role as a benchmark in the internationalization of higher education.
