Valuation Scale
Valuation scale approved by the Academic and Quality Committee for the selection of candidates:
In the event that the number of applicants exceeds the maximum number established for the Doctoral Programme, the Academic and Quality Committee will select the applicants on the basis of the following scale:
A. Qualifications and academic record (up to 6 points).
The Bachelor's Degree or Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree taken will be assessed jointly. Up to 6 points, of which 1 corresponds to the minimum grade required to pass the degree studies and 6 corresponds to the maximum grade that can be achieved. Correction marks will be applied for grades from abroad in accordance with the ANECA programme.
The following coefficients will be applied to the average mark according to its suitability in relation to the contents of the Doctoral Programme:
1) High Suitability (Official Master's Degree in Equality and Gender of the University of Malaga or other related Master's Degrees) x 1.
2) Medium Suitability x 0,75.
3) Low Suitability x 0,50.
B. Other qualifications (up to 4 points)
1. Research experience (up to 2 points)
a. Competitive grants (not for mobility during undergraduate studies or general grants) in previous studies will be valued. Applicants who can prove that they have obtained an FPI or FPU type grant that involves a pre-doctoral contract will have preferential access to the Doctoral Programme.
b. Previous experience in research, research contracts with the University of Malaga, with another university or research centre, in any of the fields to which the Doctoral Programme is oriented, will be valued.
c. Postgraduate stays in foreign research centres will be valued.
2. Training and professional experience (up to 1 point)
a. Other official university degrees will be taken into account.
b. Other formal training courses will be valued, such as Expert; the European Diploma Supplement; as well as the carrying out of cultural Extension activities; in all cases, their value will be considered if they are related to Gender Studies.
c. Previous teaching experience in any of the fields to which the Doctoral Programme is oriented will be valued.
d. Professional activity, whether paid or unpaid, duly certified, in areas related to Equality will be valued.
e. Knowledge of languages other than the candidate's mother tongue would be an asset. Proof of level B2 or equivalent will be required.
f. Foreign students whose mother tongue is not Spanish must accredit a B2 level in this language.
3. Interest of the research area, availability of research staff assigned to the programme and of the means necessary for the development of the research (up to 1 point)
a. The applicant must provide a letter justifying the topic she/he wishes to develop in her/his doctoral thesis.
b. The presentation of a letter of commitment from a lecturer on the programme or from a researcher of recognised prestige in the fields of equality and gender studies who is available to take on the co-direction of the doctoral thesis will be valued.
4. An interview with the candidate will be considered.
5. The Academic and Quality Committee may publish the results as PASS / FAIL.
