On the way to the Official College of Criminologists of Andalusia

There are already five autonomous regions in Spain that have an Official College of Criminologists. In Andalusia, AndaCrim applied to start the procedures for its creation in May 2018. In this interview, María Contreras, president of AndaCrim, explains how the procedure is going and the reasons that justify the need to promote its creation.

Presentation of the project for the prevention of antisocial behaviour that our colleague from the Institute of Criminology is carrying out in collaboration with the Andalusian Institute of Sport and several children's football clubs in Málaga.
A new initiative of the Institute of Criminology that aims to become a service for companies that want to carry out Penal Compliance programmes. The project has just been selected in two entrepreneurship support programmes so that the project can become a reality: the VALORIZA Programme of the UMA and the EXPLORER programme of the Group Santander.
Intervention with young offenders and perception of procedural justice

Research to find out to what extent juvenile offenders perceive the penal process as fair, considering their relationship with the different legal practitioners they have had contact with. To this end, a questionnaire was used with a sample of offenders who are serving a punitive measure in the province of Málaga. The results show that the elements that make juvenile criminal proceedings perceived as fair may not be sufficiently present among these young people.
Social intervention for immigrant minors. Ceuta Project

Collaboration agreement with the city of Ceuta for the development and execution of the Intervention and Research Plan for crime prevention among unaccompanied minors in the streets of the autonomous city. The project includes a diagnosis of the number of foreign minors who are homeless and their situation in terms of vulnerability and exposure to circumstances of crime and victimisation risk.
Experiences of victimisation and perceptions of safety among a sample of Málaga citizens

Work carried out with students of the Criminology degree, within the framework of the subject Security Policies, to work on the so-called "local security diagnoses". It consisted of a survey of a sample of 310 residents of Málaga to find out about their experiences of victimisation, their perceptions of the problems of the neighbourhoods in which they live, their concerns about crime and security, and their opinions about the police action.
Following the results of the last elections to the Andalusian regional government, we look at how our perception of crime and violence influences our decision making.
This research evaluates the effectiveness, efficacy, and efficiency of the 2005 Law on Gender-Based Violence based on the analysis of sentences from the Courts for Violence against Women, official statistics, reports from observatories of the Ministry of Justice and discussion groups with the parties involved. The results have been published by Tiran Lo Blanch.
Criminology's contribution to the World Science Day for Peace and Development

The Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law hosted yesterday the IAIC's celebration of the World Science Day for Peace and Development, which brought together organisations and individuals who contribute to the city of Málaga to face the challenges posed by crime, social exclusion and citizen security to share visions and experiences from a scientific and professional perspective.

Last year, the first cruise victimization survey was carried out in Málaga. The interest in the subject lies in the fact that Málaga is one of the Spanish cities that receive the largest number of cruise ships each year. The project aimed was to quantify the crimes suffered by cruise passengers, to find out the characteristics of such crimes and the perception of safety in the city by this type of tourist.
