Drugdependency

 

 

The Malaga Section of the IAIC has provided since 1996 an intense assistance to the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Junta de Andalucía in matters concerning drug dependency. In this sense, we highlight the different reports that were elaborated to legally justify the Programme for the Controlled Dispensing of Heroin, which was finally implemented by the Junta de Andalucía in 2003 and which has constituted one of the most important initiatives among the time reduction programmes at an international level. It is worth pointing out that the trial design of the experiment was adjusted to the demands established by our reports to the extent of accommodating the activity to the legal requirements. Similarly, several reports on the feasibility of a therapeutic use of cannabis, on the creation of establishments to buy and consume cannabis, on the legal viability of installing rooms for the hygienic consumption of drugs in meeting centres, and on the compassionate use of heroine have been elaborated.
