Geographical information system for crime prevention

 

Between 2000 and 2002, the Malaga section of the IAIC, with funding from the Ministry of Education and Science, and in close collaboration with the Malaga Provincial Police Station and the Local Police School of Malaga City Council, developed a geographic information system (GIS) for crime prevention, which has enabled the creation and updating of a crime map of the city of Malaga, a tool that was made available to the Malaga local police for their crime control activities, as well as providing excellent information for various research projects.
