Project description | Europe is ageing: by 2080, one third of the population will be over 65, which means a growing need for skilled carers, both to support their own elderly relatives and to provide a professional workforce for this demand in the private sector. The Eldicare project is a "Knowledge Alliance" funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme. It brings together 12 partners from 5 countries to identify the care needs of older people in the future and to facilitate the development of the skills their carers will need, using innovative approaches to empower them through the use of ICT and e-learning based on online educational resources. Eldicare has a two-year duration and ends in October 2020. The project will analyse, through a multi-methodological approach including literature review, expert interviews, user questionnaires and focus groups, how informal social care is provided to older people across Europe, as well as the nature of the workforce and their actual training needs in this field, in order to explore how a distance training programme can be offered, which could provide a recognised accreditation for carers that would operate as a skills passport to work in different countries. |
