Project description

The objective of this project is to develop the capacity and enhance the human skills of Palestinian academics, recent graduates and technicians to support the establishment and operations of smart cities in Palestine and thereby reduce unemployment.

The project will focus on three fields that are considered enablers for smart cities; IT security, telecommunications and IT networks, and smart grids. The specific objectives of this project are:

  1. To develop and offer academic courses to improve the knowledge and skills of university students.
  2. Develop and offer mentoring to recent graduates, public and private sector employees to help bridge the gap between academia and industry.
  3. Offer courses and tutorials through e-learning to ensure flexible and wider delivery.
  4. Increase cooperation between academia and industry.
  5. Promote entrepreneurship and encourage students and apprentices to be job creators.
  6. Maintain lifelong learning by establishing an e-academy that also ensures partnership between academia and industry.
