Functions of the Committee on Academic Planning

The functions of the Tourism Faculty Committee for Academic Planning are determined by Article 135.3 of the Statutes of the University of Malaga and the Regulations of the Academic Committee of the Faculty of Tourism.

The powers of the Committee on Academic Planning are the following:

a) Hear and make proposals to the Board of the Centre on issues relating to the management of academic activities, as well as other complementary activities, which are not expressly assigned to other Center committees.

b) Hear and make proposals to the Board of the Centre on issues relating to the student evaluation systems, as well as hear and resolve complaints and revisions thereof.

c) Be responsible for the monitoring and pedagogic evaluation of the teaching staff, as well as any other matters relating to the pedagogic reforms of teaching. It must submit annual reports to the University Commission for Academic Planning and Teaching Staff.

d) Evaluate each of the programmes, make proposals for their coordination and report to the Board of the Centre for approval, if applicable. The Management of the Centre, having approved the academic programme, will then oversee its publication and dissemination.

 

Functions of Master’s degree Coordinator

The functions of the Master‘s coordinators are set forth in Article 14.6 of the Rules of studies leading to the official qualifications of Master‘s of the University of Málaga.

The functions are the following:

a) With the assistance of the Master’s Academic Committee, ensure proper coordination and scientific and thematic coherence of the contents of the modules, materials and subjects integrated into the Masters, ensuring that the scientific level is appropriate for the level of education of the Master's degree.

b) Be responsible for monitoring the degree, implementing and coordinating actions deemed necessary, in accordance with those approved by the Centre. It will ensure especially that all the actions foreseen in the verification report of the degree and the regulations of the University of Malaga on quality assurance of qualifications are carried out.

c) Be responsible for, within the degree, and according to the Dean or Director of the Centre and the Board of the Centre, the accreditation process and verification of the Master‘s qualification, or similar, to which it may be subjected by national or regional evaluation agencies or internal organs of the University of Malaga. Organise and prepare any necessary documentation, under the supervision of the Board of Centre and the Dean or Director of the Centre responsible for the qualification.

d) To carry out the internal economic and academic management of the Master’s degree, previously approved by the Centre, as well as external tasks that may be necessary for the proper coordination of the degrees associated with the Centre , and, in general, of all such qualifications of the University of Malaga.

e) With the assistance of the Master’s Academic Committee, ensure the allocation processes of subjects and tutor of the Final Master’s Project, the submission dates and any other aspect of these projects, following the guidelines approved by the Centre.

f) Conduct an annual academic and economic report addressed to the Dean / Director of the Centre, listing the actions carried out, which will then be submitted to the Board of the Centre.

g) To propose, where appropriate, to the Commission on Quality Assurance of the Centre, plans to improve the Master’s degree studies and collaborate with the Commission in the preparation and drafting of monitoring and accreditation reports as deemed necessary for the corresponding Master’s qualification.

h) To represent and defend the interests of the official corresponding Master’s qualification in those matters that the Dean / Director of the Centre may delegate.

i) To ensure the dissemination among teachers and students of the qualification, of information on any matters relating to the activities thereof that may affect them.

j) Maintain and update the information available on the website of the Master’s degree, delegating this task to whom is considered appropriate.

 

Functions of the Academic Committee of the Master’s degree

The functions of the Academic Committee of the Master’s degree are set forth in 15.3 of the Rules of studies leading to the official Master’s degree of the University of Malaga.

 

The Academic Committee of the Master’s degree will be responsible for the curriculum provided in accordance with the planned schedule, and decide on any issues that may arise during its development. In addition it will inform the Centre responsible for the qualification, which then reports to the Postgraduate Commission regarding changes to curriculum, substitutions teachers, student applications concerning recognition and transfer of credits, tribunals’ proposals, reclaims systems and assessment, and, in general, all other academic issues as assigned.
