New Doctors Investiture

This ceremony is held around Santo Tomás festivity, and was celebrated for the first time in 2006, year in which its ceased to be part of the Academic Year Opening Ceremony. Since then, in line with tradition, it follows its own protocol. It is a solemn ceremony restricted to the academic community and is presided over by the University President, who is also in charge of placing the biretta before the Vice-President related to the honoree's area of knowledge. Following, one of the newly appointed doctors takes the oath on behalf of all his or her peers. Lastly, Gaudeamus Igitur is performed.
