María Zambrano Center for Transatlantic Studies participates in the 3rd Meeting of the international net Transfopress
The congress has taken place the 5th and 6th November in the Faculty of Communication Sciences of UMA.

The Faculty of Communication Sciences of the University of Málaga has received the 3rd Transfopress Meeting Los medios en lengua extranjera: diversidad cultural e integración, where more than 30 researchers and experts from France, Spain, Portugal, England, Germany, Brazil, Mexico and Canada have participated. The congress has been developed in three different languages: Spanish, French and English. The Department of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Málaga and the María Zambrano Center for Transanlantic Studies UMA-ATECH ─among other institutions and media─ have collaborated in this project.
The conference opening was hosted by Mª Chantal Pérez Hernández ─Vice Rector of University Extension─, Juan Antonio García Galindo ─Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences and meeting co-director─, Diane Richet-Cooper ─President of Transfopress International Net─, Emilio Ortega Arjonilla ─President of French Alliance of Málaga─, and Laura López Romero ─meeting co-director and organizing committee coordinator.
Along the meeting, the members have submitted their projects about the foreign language media phenomenon, since an historic and modern perspective, and they have offered two lectures. After the inauguration, the president of Transfopress, Diane Richet from Versalles Saint-Quentin University in Yvelines, has offered the lecture La prensa ‘turística’ en lengua extranjera: una invención del siglo XIX, where she talks about the close relation between tourism and media for foreigners. The sociologist Karen O’Reilly from the University of Loughborough has hosted the second session, with the dissertation Residential Tourism Legacies: The British on the Costa del Sol, twenty years later and after the crisis, about the settlement of Britons in the province.
Two round tables have been planned and several journalists from the major headlines in foreign language from Málaga and professionals working with outside communities have participated. The participants have offered interesting reflections about the integration process of the societies in contact and the role that media plays. At the same time, the Central Gallery will devote an exhibition about media in foreign language in Málaga that will be available to visit from the 3rd to the 15th November.
The meeting is organized by the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the University of Málaga, E-COM. Transfomedia project and Transfopress International Net; and sponsored by the Vice-Rectorate of Investigation and Transference from the University of Málaga.
