Rectors of UMA and UMET meet to discuss issues related to Aula Maria Zambrano Center for Transatlantic Studies UMA – ATECH

Last Thursday, 15th October, José ÁngelNarváez Bueno —acting Rector of the University of Málaga (UMA)—, met Carlos M. Padín Bibiloni —Rector of the Metropolitan University in Puerto Rico (UMET)— and Juan Antonio García Galindo —Head of the María Zambrano Center for Transatlantic Studies UMA – ATECH— to discuss future partnership projects and international relationships between our entities.
In this meeting, they discussed the possibility of making future exchanges between students, teachers and researchers and also the fulfilment of different activities in the academic scope related to the María Zambrano Center for Transatlantic Studies. The Center works in the creation of a partnership network that helps to encourage the academic and scientific relationship amongst both sides on the Atlantic. This is one step ahead to strengthen the network.
Another of the initiatives promoted by the María Zambrano Center for Transatlantic Studies UMA – ATECH is holding an international workshop in which the main interest topics for the Atlantic World countries are issued. In its first edition, held the last may, not only representatives from the Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico attended the different conferences, but also from the University of South Florida, the Recinto de Rio Piedras University in Puerto Rico, the National University of Misiones, the Technical University of Dresden, the University of Vigo, the University of Valencia and the University of Malaga.
The University of Malaga holds a partnership agreement with the University of South Florida (USF) since 2012. The objective of this partnership was to create two equivalent centers located in Malaga and Tampa. Likewise, the Aula María Zambrano for Transatlantic Studies UMA – ATECH is a member of the Plan de Internacionalización (an internationalisation plan) of The International Campus of Excellence (ICE) Andalucía TECH, along with other international projects such as Oficina UMA – ATECH Puente con Corea.
