TRAINING ACTIVITIES

As part of the doctoral student's training, the programme includes a series of activities organised in collaboration with the participating universities.

The activities provided by the University of Malaga are those dictated by the International Postgraduate Centre and Doctoral School (CIPD), among which the following are proposed:

 

1) Search and Management of Scientific Information

Nº HOURS: 50

REQUIRED: NO

TIMING: All students, both those enrolled full-time and part-time, should take a workshop of this kind on at least one occasion, preferably during their first year of the doctorate.

DESCRIPTION: The University of Malaga Library organises on-site and off-site training sessions.

Programmed Training (Classroom): Throughout the academic year, the Library organises training sessions, lasting 25 classroom hours and of a specialised nature, aimed at the use of the different sources of information, operation and practice with the different electronic information resources available at the UMA. They are offered twice a year and are announced at the beginning of October and March.

Virtual Training (Non-attendance): The Library organises non-face-to-face training sessions on the UMA Virtual Campus to train its users in the management of information resources (databases and electronic publication services in all areas of knowledge) accessible from its website. These sessions (25 hours) are also held twice during the academic year, in November and March.

The UMA Library also provides personalised training on topics or resources that have not been planned or sessions at a different time to that scheduled for those people who cannot attend the scheduled training sessions due to scheduling or daytime problems. These sessions can be requested to the different points of Service of each Library, including proposals of day and time, at least one week in advance.

 

2) Other activities periodically offered and publicised by the Doctoral School

The Doctoral School of the University of Malaga /EDUMA) maintains an open information channel throughout the academic year through which all doctoral students of the University are informed of the courses or transversal activities of interest for their training.
