The annual assessment that all students must pass is held in two periods each year: September-October and March-April. The whole process is done on the DAD platform.

The Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program will establish the concrete calendar for the annual evaluation of the student, according to the following deadlines:

— First-time participants in the programme enrolled in the first registration phase (October) must be evaluated annually within the months of September or October of the year following that in which they formalized their enrolment. If they do not participate in the evaluation, or do not pass it, they may participate in a second call, to be held in March or April.

— First time participants in the programme, enrolled in the second phase (February or March), must be evaluated annually within the months of March or April of the year following that in which they formalized their enrollment. If they do not participate in the evaluation, or do not pass it, they may participate in a second call, to be held in September or October.

- From the first annual assessment, the student must submit his or her progress to successive annual assessments, within the same time limits as set out in the preceding paragraphs.

The above rules apply to both full-time students and those who are part-time doctoral students. The Academic Commission shall establish the conditions and requirements for annual assessments for both types of students, the same as reflected in the supervisory commitment. In any case, the level of demand must not adversely affect the assessment process for those who are part-time.

Those students who have not obtained a positive annual assessment in the first or second call may appeal to the PhD Comittee, in accordance with Article 17.1 of the Regulation for Doctoral Studies at the University of Malaga. The appeal shall be decided by the PhD Comittee, after a report of the Academic Committee of the Programme.
