ERASMUS MOBILITY AT THE UMA GROWS IN RECENT YEARS

Through the Erasmus program (student exchange program par excellence) the UMA has an agreement with 422 European universities. In the current 2013-2014 academic year, 933 students have been sent to these universities and 734 have been received. These figures show an increase when compared with previous years. Foe instance, in the academic year of 2008-2009, 451 students were sent abroad to European universities with which the UMA has this agreement, while 586 students were received.

The most popular countries students choose to study in Europe are: Germany, Poland, the UK, France and Italy. This group is followed by countries such as Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Sweden. Of the 933 outgoing students in the 2013 to 2014 academic year, 119 students chose Poland, 118 Germany, 107 the UK, 100 Italy and 100 France. The numbers of outgoing students to each country closely match the number of incoming students from those countries. In the academic years 2012-2013 and 2013-2014, the UMA received a greater number of German and Italian students. In 2012-2013, 164 Italian and 154 German students were received and in 2013-2014, 154 German students and 164 Italian students.

The University of Malaga committed to student mobility. Erasmus International Internships

The University of Malaga, through its International Relations and Cooperation Service, fosters international relationships between the university and the labour market. The Erasmus Internships is one of the programmes enabling closer relationships through internships, training centres, research centres or other European organizations.

During the 2012-2013 academic year, 84 students from the UMA took part in this programme. Germany and the UK were the most sought-after destinations, and 18 students were sent to Germany and 16 to the UK. Since 2007 interest shown in this experience has greatly increased, as shown in the following table
