MATERIAL AND SUPPORT RESOURCES

The PhD programme in Equality and Gender has sufficient means to ensure the development of research carried out by students.

1. Sources of funding and resources

a. The University of Malaga’s Vice Rectorate for Research and Scientific Dissemination provides financial aid by its own Research Plan: recruitment and training of research staff, research projects, additional support, mobility and further training of research staff, research activity of the former beneficiaries of the Ramón y Cajal Programme, recognition of research activity, transfer and dissemination, and temporary allocation of space for the development of special projects and actions: https://www.uma.es/servicio-de-investigacion/

b. The Doctoral School calls for grants (actions 321 and 322), which cover expenses incurred by stays leading to an international mention and cotutelle, as well as support for the reading of doctoral theses, and some other actions that contribute to increasing the material resources of doctoral students and PhD programmes. https://www.uma.es/ed-uma/info/132766/ayudas-y-becas/

c. Support for initiatives on gender equality by the Vice Rectorate of Equality and Social Policy, in order to promote research at the University of Malaga, teaching or any other action or activity related to gender equality and with the ultimate objective of increasing the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the university environment. Calls for applications are made every academic year: https://www.uma.es/unidad-de-egality/info/128475/aids-of-equalities-year2021/

d) Assistance for the financing of seminars, conferences and other national and international training activities. The University Institute for Gender and Equality Research offers its members grants to finance part of the costs of organizing congresses, seminars, conferences, as well as for its dissemination through the publication of the interventions.

e) Public subsidies for Feminist Research by the Ministry of Equality. Subsidy for postgraduate courses in feminist and gender studies and university activities related to equality. https://igualdad.sede.gob.es/procedimientos/choose-ambit/idp/1821

f) Funding from PAIDI research groups and competitive research projects. Also the agreements signed by the IGIUMA and the Vice-rectorate for Equality and Social Policy, which guarantee and promote the development of planned research training activities. Information on the agreements signed with other institutions and organisations will be published on the website of the Doctoral Programme in Equality and Gender.

g) The Women's Institute (IMIO) provides information on calls for grants and subsidies for academic purposes: https://www.inmujeres.gob.es/servRecursos/convocatorias.do

2. Infrastructures and spaces

To carry out training and research activities, the Doctoral Programme has the facilities of the Faculty of Arts: https://www.uma.es/facultad-de-filosofia-y-letras/, the teaching centre for the Master's Degree that gives preferential access to this Doctoral Programme. Detailed information on the infrastructures of the centre can be found at the following link: https://www.uma.es/facultad-de-filosofia-y-letras/info/65625/aulas-facultad-de-filosofia/. All classrooms have conventional blackboards and are also equipped with computer equipment, projectors and audio equipment. Twenty-two classrooms are equipped with cameras and microphones for online transmission of research and teaching activities.

The Faculty has a classroom of preferential use in the Juan Antonio Ramirez Auditorium, specially equipped to perform video conferences and recording seminars. This is in addition to those that depend on the Central Computer Service of the University: https://www.uma.es/servicio-central-de-informatica/. In both cases, The UMA’s Virtual Learning and Technology Labs service is collaborating: https://www.evlt.uma.es/

The student body has a rest area in the basement of the Dean's building shared with the rest of the students of the Centre, as well as other multi-purpose spaces in the same building, which can be used as study rooms, with prior notice to the Concierge's Office.

In terms of sustainable mobility, there are parking spaces for bicycles, as well as a cycle path leading directly to the Faculty itself; in one of the two car parks of the Faculty there is a charging station for electric and hybrid cars.

Services

The staff of the Doctoral Service of the ED-UMA is in charge of the administrative and management tasks, as well as the staff of the Secretariat of the Faculty of Arts.

The Information, Concierge and User Service (SICAU) is responsible for the management and dissemination of information about the organisation and activities of the institution, both to the university community and to the rest of society. The SICAU staff directly attends to or channels the needs of those who use university services.

The Faculty Library, the largest in the whole of the UMA in terms of number of volumes, covers the needs of the centre. The José Mercado Ureña Humanities Library offers a reservation service for research posts, https://www.uma.es/ficha.php?id=135783. The Libre service, https://libr-e.uma.es/, provides access to the consultation and loan of electronic books, which greatly facilitates the tasks of the teaching staff and students. The University of Malaga provides access through InterCampus to the archives and libraries of other faculties. The RIUMA server: http://riuma.uma.es, whose objective is to allow free access to the scientific and academic production of the University of Malaga, increases the visibility of research content and guarantees its preservation and conservation. The Faculty Library organises user training courses on how the library works.

The UMA's Central IT Service is responsible for the control, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer equipment and software, which is accessed through the User Service Centre (CAU). https://www.uma.es/servicio-central-de-informatica/cms/base/ver/base/basecontent/5472/descripcion/

With regard to career guidance services, which favour the appropriate labour market integration of graduates of the Programme, the Talent Tank programme: https://talentank.uma.es/ has proved to be very beneficial for this purpose. On the other hand, The Green Ray: https://thegreenray.eu/ is configured as a nexus and meeting point between the university and the business world, so that synergies are created and shared strategies are formulated.

Compliance with legislation on the protection of personal data is guaranteed, thus ensuring the confidentiality of the information processed, mainly in non face-to-face assessment: https://www.uma.es/secretaria-general/info/128252/leyde-proteccion-de-datos/; accessibility to students with special educational needs and non-discrimination is guaranteed: https://www.uma.es/oficina-de-atencion-al-estudiante/.
