The criteria agreed upon by the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program in Mechatronics Engineering (December 20, 2022) for evaluating the program's students are as follows:

First Year Evaluation [0-10]:

Applicable to first-year students, both full-time and part-time.

  1. Proposed Research Plan [0-5]

    • The adequacy of the plan to the program, specificity, level of detail, and feasibility will be assessed.
    • Its relevance, degree of innovation, credibility, and impact will also be evaluated.
    • It is essential to indicate the title of the thesis project, an updated analysis of the state of the art on the thesis topic, the objectives to be achieved, the option to obtain the industrial mention, the methodology, and the estimated timeline for the work's development.
  2. Scientific Production to Date (results, publications, etc.) [0-2]

  3. Stays Completed, Visits to Other Centers, Attendance at Conferences, Meetings [0-2]

  4. Participation in Activities and Supplementary Training [0-2]

  5. Any Other Relevant Activities or Topics [0-2]

Second Year Evaluation [0-10]:

Applicable to second-year students, both full-time and part-time students in their second and third years.

  1. Progress of the Thesis in Relation to the Proposed Research Plan [0-3]

  2. Scientific Production to Date (results, publications, etc.) [0-4]

  3. Stays Completed, Visits to Other Centers, Attendance at Conferences, Meetings [0-4]

  4. Participation in Activities and Supplementary Training [0-2]

  5. Any Other Relevant Activities or Topics [0-1]

Third Year and Subsequent Evaluations [0-10]:

Applicable to third-year students and beyond for full-time students, and for fourth-year students and beyond for part-time students.

  1. Progress of the Thesis in Relation to the Proposed Research Plan [0-1]

  2. Scientific Production to Date (results, publications, etc.) [0-8]

  3. Stays Completed, Visits to Other Centers, Attendance at Conferences, Meetings [0-6]

  4. Participation in Activities and Supplementary Training [0-1]

  5. Any Other Relevant Activities or Topics [0-1]

General Considerations:

To achieve a POSITIVE evaluation, a score of five points or higher must be obtained in the doctoral candidate's evaluation report based on the scoring criteria.

Regardless of the score obtained, the evaluation will be NEGATIVE if the proposed research plan does not meet the requirements established in this scoring system and the Regulations for Doctoral Studies at UMA.

If the total score exceeds 10, the score that will appear in the monitoring and evaluation committee report will be 10 points.

Examples of Indicative Valuations:

  • JCR Publications: Q1/Q2 (2 points), Q3/Q4 (1 point), International Conference (1 point), National Conference (0.5 points).

  • Stays: Stays for international mention, lasting 3 months (4 points). Additional stays and attendance at international conferences and meetings will be valued at (0.5 points).

  • Training Activities, Talks, Seminars, Training Courses, and Other Merits: These will be evaluated based on their relevance and duration.
