The purpose of this proposal is to organize the 4th International PhD-Student Conference on Economics and Business - EB-UMA 2025, to be held in Málaga on June 5–6, 2025. While the event is scheduled for the first week of June, the final dates will depend on the availability of the invited speakers. To ensure a high scientific level, a carefully curated group of internationally renowned researchers has been invited. All of them have an extensive research trajectory, publications in high-impact journals, strong academic citation records, and active participation in the editorial boards of leading journals in the fields of economics and business.
The workshop will follow a format of 15-minute presentations, followed by 10 minutes of discussion, aimed at encouraging the exchange of ideas, constructive criticism, and the improvement of the work presented. The main objectives of this scientific meeting are:
- To promote academic debate around key issues in economic research within the framework of the EB-UMA. The workshop will offer a structured space for critical reflection on relevant topics in economics, business, and economic sociology. This environment will contribute to enriching doctoral training through the contrast of ideas, methodological approaches, and empirical results.
- To assess and enhance the scientific quality of the doctoral students’ research. By presenting ongoing work and receiving feedback from established researchers, the aim is to strengthen the theoretical, methodological, and empirical foundations of doctoral theses, thereby fostering research excellence within the program.
- To establish and strengthen collaborative links with researchers connected to the EB-UMA and other doctoral programs. The participation of international experts will facilitate the creation of long-lasting academic networks, potentially leading to future scientific collaborations, research stays, co-supervisions, or joint participation in competitive projects.
- To raise the visibility of the research conducted within the EB-UMA to a high-level academic community. The workshop will position the program as a dynamic and rigorous space for knowledge generation, enhancing its national and international profile and attracting potential students and researchers interested in its areas of expertise.
