Admission Criteria
(This text is a translation from Spanish of the admission criteria proposed by the Academic and Quality Committee in its meeting on May 30, 2024 and pproved by the Postgraduate Committee of UMA)
It is mandatory to submit a letter of support from a researcher related to the program, expressing their interest in supervising the applicant's specific thesis project.
The award of a competitive national or international pre-doctoral scholarship or contract, integrated into one of the research lines of the doctoral program, will result in the automatic admission of the recipient into the corresponding doctoral program, provided they meet the other requirements set forth in the Doctoral Studies Regulations of the University of Málaga.
In all other cases:
a) 60% of the overall score will correspond to the academic record of the degree(s) held by the applicant.
b) 40% of the overall score can be obtained from other research-related merits and the applicant’s participation in national or international programs or agreements endorsed by the University of Málaga. Specifically, the following will be assessed:
- Up to 10% for the alignment of the thesis project with the research lines of the program.
- Up to 10% for proficiency in scientific languages beyond the required minimum (B1 or equivalent in English).
- Up to 10% for experience in research-related activities.
- Up to 10% for other merits, such as additional scholarships or contracts within the research lines of the program, pre-agreements for co-supervision with foreign universities, pre-agreements for industrial mentions, or the applicant’s participation in national or international programs or agreements endorsed by the University of Málaga.
