Documentary Commitment of Supervision of the Ph.D. Program in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Efficiency

 

The Documentary Commitment of Supervision is a document that establishes the functions of supervision and monitoring of doctoral students (download document). This document includes, among other points, the evaluation criteria used by the Academic Committee to carry out the annual monitoring, which in the Ph.D. Program in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Efficiency of the University of Malaga will be the following:

 

First-year evaluation [0-10]:

 Those students who need training complements must pass them for their evaluation by the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program.

 ●     Research Plan and Proposed Thesis Project. [0-5]

●     Its adequacy to the program, concreteness, level of detail, feasibility, relevance, degree of innovation, credibility, and impact will be assessed.

●     Progress of the thesis. Follow-up Conference training activity. [0-2.5]

●     Completion of at least one of the following formative activities.  [0-1.5]

●     Introduction to scientific text editing.

●     Introduction to bibliographic searches and general information resources.

●     Academic English

●     Introduction to the presentation of scientific texts

●     Working sessions between students of different lines and assistance to the reading of doctoral theses.

●     Presentation of results of research teams

●     Initial training seminar on current research issues

●     Seminar of conferences

●     Seminar on computer applications for research

●     Scientific production to date (results, publications, etc.). [0-0.5]

●     Other research merits. [0-0.5]

 

Second year evaluation [0-10]:

 ●     Thesis progress. Follow-up Conference training activity [0-4].

●     Completion of at least one of the following training activities.  [0-3]

●     Introduction to scientific text editing

●     Academic English

●     Introduction to the presentation of scientific texts

●     Working sessions between students of different lines and assistance to the reading of doctoral theses.

●     Presentation of results of research teams

●     Initial training seminar on current research topics

●     Seminar of conferences

●     Introduction to the presentation of utility patents

●     Research Seminar

●     Mobility

●     Attendance to a National Congress

●     Attendance to an International Congress

●     Scientific production to date (results, publications, etc.). [0-2]

●     Other research merits. [0-1]

 

Evaluation of the third year and successive years [0-10]:

 ●     Thesis progress. Training activity of Follow-up Conferences. [0-3]

●     Completion of at least one of the following training activities. [0-3]

●     Research Seminar

●     Mobility

●     Attendance to a National Congress

●     Attendance to an International Congress

●     Scientific production to date (results, publications, etc.). [0-3]

●     Other research merits. [0-1]

 

Independently of these monitoring scales, the Academic Committee may positively evaluate the doctoral candidate according to the evolution of his/her thesis, the accumulated scientific production, and any other relevant aspect from the research point of view, always complying with the required quality criteria.
